I did a seminar the other day where I asked the audience what they thought the most important tool or asset they had for their home based business.
Of course, some people guessed... leads, leads, leads. Others mumbled under their breaths... marketing, others said closing a prospect. You see where all the students were going. They were all saying something about the sales process.
After I heard about 10-15 responses, I repeatedly said, no, not quite, no, no, no. After this quick 3-4 minute exercise, it was time to reveal the real answer. The real answer is:
MINDSET
You MUST get your mindset straight in order to make money in your home based business. Now, what IS Mindset? First, its a NOUN. Not an verb that is used in transition. Its not an adjective used to describe you. Its a Noun. Look at it look its tangible. Look at it as something you can look at, grab and use. It means an attitude, disposition, or mood.
Before you generate one lead, you better have the correct mindset in dealing with the lead. Unfortunately, for many of us, we feel that no one will join our business because we, subconsciously, don't believe it. Wrong mindset. Deep down, in places we don't talk about, our beliefs (our mindset) is one of a defeatist mindset. If you are anything like me, the telephone was about 800 lbs and I did not want to call anyone. You better get the correct mindset about that phone quickly. Get a job that forces you to call people or something. Its important to conquer that fear. But you have to get that correct mindset that "this prospect wants what I have without a shadow of a doubt".
Most people try to build themselves up by trying to have very positive "self talk". For example, they say to themselves, "I am the best" "no one is better than me" "I can have anything I want" blah blah blah... The problem is that they REALLY don't believe it even though they are saying it. Subconsciously, its just talk. Instead of trying to fool yourself, which never works, try this for your mindset.
Say this to yourself, "you think I'm the best, don't you" "you think I'm pretty, don't you" "you think I handsome, don't you"... There is a major subconscious belief by putting the positive tone to the other person and it does wonders for you. You don't think you are pretending. You are walking in confidence now because you have now put the "pressure" on the other person by saying this to yourself. It is a completely different feeling altogether. Try this for you mindset, in generating leads, following up with prospects, closing prospects, building your team, with your mentors, everything!
If you practice this, you will start to have immediate success in your home based or network marketing business. Good Luck!
